Head of Financial Crime Governance, Regulatory Engagement & Intelligence – Financial Crime

As our Head of Financial Crime Governance, Regulatory Engagement & Intelligence, reporting to the General Manager Financial Crime, you will lead a team responsible for ensuring compliance with financial crime regulations, maintaining effective governance frameworks, and providing strategic insights through intelligence. This key role aligns with The Star’s vision by driving robust governance, regulatory engagement, and intelligence initiatives to mitigate financial crime risks.

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead and influence a critical function, ensuring The Star maintains its reputation as a trusted destination by proactively managing financial crime risks.

A few of your responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with key financial crime regulatory stakeholders, including AUSTRAC and other agencies.
  • Provide strategic direction on regulatory engagement and oversee responses to regulatory inquiries.
  • Aggregate internal and external intelligence to provide strategic recommendations for senior management.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for process enhancements and innovation.
  • Lead the financial crime governance function, including preparing financial crime reports to senior management and board committees, secretariat role for financial crime committees and reviewing financial crime metrics.

What we are looking for:

  • Deep knowledge of AML/CTF legislation and financial crime risks, particularly within highly regulated industries.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills, including experience engaging with regulatory bodies and law enforcement agencies.
  • Proven leadership experience in developing and managing high-performing teams.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills to anticipate and address emerging financial crime risks.
  • Experience in documenting and implementing risk-based compliance frameworks and policies.
