As our Senior Manager – Group Compliance, reporting to the Head of Group Compliance, you will support the Line 2 Compliance team maintain and oversee the Group policy and governance infrastructure that underpins compliance with our obligations throughout the organisation.

This is a fantastic opportunity where you will play a key Line 2 Compliance role across Compliance Advisory and Policy Governance functions.

A few of your responsibilities

Compliance Advisory

  • Provide compliance advice to business units and senior stakeholders
  • Support stakeholders in embedding compliance obligations
  • Assist with periodic compliance monitoring programs to assess effectiveness of Compliance Management Framework

Policy Governance

  • Develop and maintain the Policy Architecture that governs The Star’s Policies, SOPs and supporting governance documents, including the master list of policies
  • Support Policy Owners to monitor and anticipate regulatory change and proposed business changes to ensure the potential impact on The Star’s Policies is appropriately understood and responded to.
  • Support internal stakeholders and the compliance and risk teams to scope requirements for each policy as Policy Owners develop or update policies for sign off by accountable owners
  • Support the management of the forward plan of board approvals (for Policies requiring board approval) including the boards of TSEG and casino operators, where required  
  • Prepare reporting to management Risk committees on certain policy and governance items
  • Provide reporting to the Board/ risk committees on the effectiveness and adherence to the Compliance Risk Management Framework and Policy governance.
  • Support development of awareness and communications to employees on changes to policy obligations
  • Provide input to training on new and updated policies
  • Ensure Policies are stored central and published to employees, contractors and external stakeholders via the website as required (including in languages other than English)
  • Provide support to the Compliance team and General Manager, Compliance as required and assist with assigned projects.

What we are looking for

  • Ability to role model and champion the voice of risk and compliance in The Star
  • Strong writing skills including use of plain language and brevity to aid understanding
  • Ability to think strategically
  • Ability to identify opportunities for improvements in compliance processes
  • Ability to lead a change management program and to challenge the status quo
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to assist in the design, implementation and monitoring of compliance programs in complex regulatory environments
  • Ability to develop effective relationships with key stakeholders
  • Ability to lead a team of compliance professionals
  • Sound knowledge of The Star Entertainment Group’s principal compliance obligations.
  • 5-8 years’ experience in a legal or compliance role
  • Experience in design, implementation and management of compliance risk management processes
  • Experience in casino or gaming industry preferred.
