As the Safer Gambling Duty Manager, reporting to the Director Safer Gambling, you will support the development, implementation, and maintenance of our comprehensive Safer Gambling strategy along with training for team members, guests and the business to ensure operations are conducted in accordance with The Star Sydney’s values, behaviours and requirements prescribed by law or regulation.

A few of your responsibilities  

  • Communicate and implement Safer Gambling programmes in accordance with the organisation’s strategy and monitor the quality and effectiveness of programmes to ensure compliance with standards, policy and applicable laws, codes, and regulations
  • Ensure the Safer Gambling Guest Support Managers and Officers on duty responds to guest wellbeing and harm minimisation in a timely, effective, and efficient manner
  • Assist in the development of systems and reporting processes to monitor the effectiveness of the department’s strategy in identifying and minimising key Safer Gambling risks
  • Provide subject matter expertise and assistance to operational and senior management to ensure operational awareness of, and alignment with, Safer Gambling strategy and programmes
  • Identify system failures and consult with relevant stakeholders for resolution in a timely manner

What we are looking for 

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field as well as experience in community relations Safer Gambling and harm prevention and minimisation programmes, preferable but not required
  • Demonstrated ability in developing productive relationships and managing and driving change with your team and external stakeholders
  • Understanding of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to the Gaming industry
  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership capacity, with proven people management experience, including driving team member engagement, capability, and development
  • Ability and aptitude for delivering tough decisions and communications

You are a seasoned leader who is enthusiastic about Safer Gambling and harm minimisation, team culture and able to inspire others to prioritise safety, wellbeing, and customer care. You have a clear understanding of how regulation is applied to real life situations and can effectively tailor your communication style to meet the variety of people you interact with daily.
