As an Assistant Financial Accountant reporting to the Financial Controller, you will provide high-quality, customer-focused general accounting services for The Star Sydney, ensuring compliance with company policies and the timely delivery of all responsibilities.

This is a 6-month secondment opportunity, offering a fantastic chance to put your skills and knowledge to the test while contributing to a thrilling new era for our Finance team.

A few of your responsibilities:

• Support financial accounting activities, including journals, month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and basic reporting
• Support key transactional activities, including accounts receivable, supplier maintenance, cost control, capital expenditure, and operational expenditure
• Assist with monthly reporting to business partners, including balance sheets and reconciliation summaries
• Investigate and resolve transactional issues escalating where necessary
• Respond to accounting and reporting queries from business partners
• Assist in identifying and resolving internal accounting process and control issues

What we are looking for: 

• Degree in Accounting or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
• Process orientated and desire to learn
• 1–2 years’ experience in a similar assistant accounting role or with reconciliation related activities
• Experience in accounting systems and tools (Oracle, TM1, Excel)
