The Demi Chef reports directly to the Junior Sous Chef and offers an energetic and exciting hands-on approach to flawless product execution in an environment focused on safety and culinary excellence.

A few of your responsibilities:  

  • Support or lead the assigned section as directed by the Junior Sous Chef and provide training to junior staff members.
  • Assist with fundamental cooking and food preparation tasks 
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment and workstations
  • Complete all duties in line with company and statutory hygiene requirements 
  • Meet requirements for consistency and high quality in a fast-paced environment  

What we are looking for:  

  • Culinary School Graduate. Received apprenticeship training in Commercial Cookery
  • Proficiency with diverse food preparation techniques and cooking equipment. 
  • 2 years of experience post apprenticeship in food preparation, preferably with Italian cuisine and high-volume setting, with strong communication skills and understanding of relevant liquor laws. 
  • Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

You are passionate and creative, willing to share your skills and expertise in guiding and shaping those who are new to a fast-paced kitchen.

With exceptional communication skills, you enjoy collaborating with colleagues and management as well as interacting with our customers. You bring a proactive, positive attitude to every task and are committed to consistently delivering high standards. Your role will be pivotal for Cucina Porto's success.
