The General Counsel, reporting to the Group Chief Legal Officer, will serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO of The Star Sydney and deliver legal services to the Sydney business. The role will also provide ad hoc support on broader group legal matters.
A few of your responsibilities:
- Advise The Star Sydney CEO and broader leadership team on legal matters
- Report on legal matters to The Star Sydney Board
- Participate in The Star Sydney leadership team meetings
- Support the Group Chief Legal Officer on group legal matters and legal operations, including law firm engagement
- Lead the legal contribution to business planning across The Star Sydney to support strategic objectives
- Support the delivery of group legal initiatives at The Star Sydney
What we are looking for:
- Law degree with admission to practice and a current practising certificate in New South Wales
- Significant experience as a legal practitioner in private practice and/or a large corporate environment
- Minimum 10 years’ experience, including senior leadership experience and time as General Counsel of a substantial business unit within a listed company
- Strong experience in regulated environments; exposure to the gambling or entertainment industry is desirable

You are a seasoned and commercially minded legal leader with a strong background in advising senior executives and boards within complex, regulated environments. Admitted to practice in New South Wales, you bring extensive experience from private practice and/or large corporate organisations, including time as General Counsel of a substantial business unit within a listed company.
With a collaborative leadership style, you influence with integrity, thrive in fast‑paced environments, and are comfortable operating at both enterprise and operational levels.
