The Star Gold Coast is currently accepting applications for School Based Apprentice Chefs.  This is a part-time position working one day of your school week at The Star Gold Coast plus attending assigned TAFE days, you will also have the ability to work on school holidays by mutual agreement. The recruitment process will commence in July, which will include an interview with our Culinary team and work experience opportunity to make sure we are the right match!

The Star Gold Coast is the perfect place to begin your culinary apprenticeship, providing the foundation for your success. With a professional, passionate, and positive approach, you’ll develop key skills and gain valuable real-world experience with potential pathways into a full-time role.

Throughout your journey, you’ll work alongside our talented chefs across a variety of restaurants, cuisines, and kitchens. Our apprentices also have the opportunity to showcase their skills in culinary competitions, with added masterclasses and field trips to enrich learning experiences.

 What are we looking for

  • A passion for Culinary and curious about a career in cooking
  • Studying Hospitality or Kitchen Operations at a local high school
  • Good communication skills with a team player mentality
  • A hard-working attitude and who are willing to learn
  • Natural creativity with a flair for flavour and ingredients
  • An understanding that being a chef is a way of life, not just a job
