The Star Brisbane offers a variety of new dining, bars, and unique entertainment options. It also includes a five-star luxury hotel, The Star Grand, and a state-of-the-art Event Centre.
This transformational project has brought even more excitement and anticipation to burgeoning Brisbane. It will redefine how people play, shop, and socialise in the river city.
The role will report to the senior team members within the kitchen brigade, becoming an important part of our culinary team. These roles offer the opportunity to produce food items relevant to the delegated Chef’s station to the highest possible standards of quality and presentation whilst meeting established deadlines.
A few of your responsibilities:
Guarantee that food is prepared in accordance with menu specifications, presentation guidelines, and kitchen quality standards
Possess an in-depth understanding of the complete menu, including all knowledge of the base ingredients and their preparation
Supervise and promote exceptional guest service and interactions with internal and external stakeholders
Maintain food costs and stock control
Ensure service is fast, fun, friendly, fresh and focused
What we will be looking for:
- Extensive culinary experience in high-volume environment
- A positive and proactive team-oriented mindset, with the capability to lead a diverse group of team members
- Proficient knowledge of food safety regulations and practices
- Specialist skills such as wok, pizzaiolo and sushi etc
- Possession of a trade certificate in Commercial Cookery
About you
You will be experienced in high volume kitchen environments with sound knowledge across all sections. This role requires comprehensive knowledge of kitchen hygiene practices and OH&S standards and ensuring your teams sections are stocked and tidy. Preparing mis-en-place and food orders as required by the Executive Chef and Sous Chef whilst following set recipes to ensure a high level of guest satisfaction and consistent quality of product.
