Senior Breach Specialist – Risk & Compliance

Purpose
As the Senior Breach Specialist, you will report to the Head of Breaches & Whistleblower Governance and will oversee key regulatory breach reporting and governance responsibilities. In this manager level role, you will ensure high-quality compliance programs, particularly in breach reporting, positioning The Star Entertainment Group as a socially responsible corporate entity. This role involves regulatory breach management, assessing potential breaches with direct communication with internal and external stakeholders, and maintaining consistent engagement with regulators.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the breach reporting processes in Queensland and manage the Conflict of Interest (COI) portfolio across the group
- Chair the Breach Assessment Committees in Queensland, providing critical analysis and decision-making on regulatory breaches, and making recommendations on remedial actions
- Review and manage corrective actions, track breaches to closure, and prepare comprehensive reporting insights for senior committees and executive stakeholders
- Review, assess, and triage new COI declarations, developing a deep understanding of the nature of each COI; collaborating with the business to create appropriate management plans or action as needed
- Maintain ongoing communication with regulators and manage internal and external stakeholder engagement
What We Are Looking For
- At least 5+ years of managerial experience in a compliance role within a regulated environment, with a focus on breach reporting, governance, or a related function
- Demonstrated experience in statutory interpretation and the ability to critically analyse information, assess, and make sound decisions based in law, regulatory expectations and established precedents
- Experience with regulatory compliance in financial services or similar sectors with exposure to ASIC-style breach reporting
- Excellent critical analysis skills and familiarity with managing conflicts of interest
- Strong investigative skills, ideally from a background in compliance advisory, regulatory, or a similar function in a highly regulated environment
- Proven experience in building and maintaining effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
