Executive General Manager Hospitality – Sydney Leadership

The Executive General Manager Hospitality role reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer The Star Sydney and is accountable for the development and execution of commercial strategies and initiatives that contribute to revenue, margin and profit growth for all Hospitality operations including Hotel, Retail and Food & Beverage related business units at The Star Sydney. With overall leadership and management of the Hospitality teams, the Executive General Manager Hospitality defines the service and operating culture of the division.

A few of your responsibilities: 

  • Implement and maintain the highest level of standards for all Hospitality components of the business to assure visibility and perception of The Star Sydney as a world class hospitality destination
  • Develop and execute the Hospitality strategic plans based on an understanding of the market and industry trends to drive market share, revenue and profitability
  • Develop strategic business relationships with key partners to secure first to market and beneficial commercial opportunities
  • New initiatives and opportunities are maximised through leveraging property scale, competitive differences and assets
  • Foster an innovating, solution-oriented work environment, motivating and engaging team members to continuously deliver the best possible experience for our guests
  • Responsible for ensuring that a strong communication platform and relationship is built and maintained between The Star Sydney and government entities and other key stakeholders.

 

What we are looking for: 

  • At least 8-10 years as a proven successful Hotelier within a 5-star market
  • Tertiary qualifications in a commercial or business field
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability in:
    • Planning and resourcing people and products
    • Controlling labour costs and operating expenses
    • Performance management.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of laws as they relate to the organisation, in particular, the Liquor Act, Industrial Relations laws, WH&S laws, Responsible Service of Alcohol and Responsible Gaming.

With a dynamic communication style, you clearly convey business expectations aligned with best practice and drive accountability. Your role will be pivotal in shaping the success of our Hospitality operations and elevating our services and offerings to cater for a variety of guests.
