Join our team as a Sous Chef in our Functions and Events department at The Star Brisbane.  

Our breathtaking resort, positioned at the heart of the new Queen’s Wharf Brisbane precinct, will commence a staged opening in August 2024, bringing a range of unique entertainment options, world class hotels, dining, bars, luxury retail, gaming and a state-of-the-art Event Centre to the river city. 

The role will report to our Executive team. These roles offer the opportunity to produce food items relevant to the delegated Chef’s station to the highest possible standards of quality and presentation whilst meeting established deadlines. 

A few of your responsibilities

  • Extensive experience in culinary at a supervisory capacity at a 5-star hotel/events centre specialising in Banquets & Events.
  • Work in partnership with different teams to take responsibility for the efficient and effective operation of the outlet and all work activities
  • Experience in leading professional hospitality teams (e.g. manage the selection, training, performance and career growth)
  • Be accountable for leading all aspects of team management
  • Participate in menu preparation and pricing policies
  • Develop training plans and conduct on-the-job training sessions
  • Ensure an open line of communication between the team, management and guests.
  • Attract and retain the right talent into the business.

What we will be looking for  

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef and relevant tertiary qualifications, such as Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery
  • Experience managing a lively and fast-paced team
  • Strong understanding of produce, culinary techniques, and kitchen equipment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Full working rights to commit to a minimum of 40 hours per week working varied shifts, including weekends, public holidays, late nights and early mornings

About us 

The $3.6 billion Queen’s Wharf Brisbane development is being delivered by Destination Brisbane Consortium – a joint venture led by The Star Entertainment Group alongside its partners.   

When complete, Queen’s Wharf Brisbane will deliver four new luxury hotels, more than 50 new food and beverage experiences, significant luxury retail, the restoration of nine heritage buildings and around 1,500 residential apartments.

Treasury Brisbane will transition into The Star Brisbane aligned to an early 2024 opening.
