The Star Culinary Institute are currently accepting applications for School Based Apprentice Chefs to be hosted by The Star Gold Coast to start in mid-2025.
The Star Culinary Institute (SCI) program is the perfect place to complete your apprenticeship. We aim to provide you with the ingredients for success. When you bring professionalism, passion and a positive attitude, you'll enjoy learning the first-rate skills you need to be equipped with for a career in Culinary whilst receiving professional development with the opportunity for a career pathway into a fulltime role with The Star Culinary Institute as the conclusion of your schooling.
You will have the opportunity to learn and work at The Star Gold Coast alongside our large team of talented and passionate Chefs in a range of restaurants and cuisines throughout your learning journey. You will also gain experience in our hot and cold production kitchens and pastry kitchens. SCI also provides the opportunity to showcase skills at competitions with the value-add inclusions of Masterclasses and field trips to extend learning outcomes. We also provide off-job training developed in consultation with our executive culinary team, facilitated training organisations.
We are looking for candidates with:
- Passionate and serious about a career in cooking
- Studying Hospitality or Kitchen Operations at a local high school
- Good communication skills with a team player mentality
- A hard-working attitude and who are willing to learn
- Natural creativity with a flair for flavour and ingredients
- An understanding that being a chef is a way of life, not just a job
This is a part-time position. One day per week working at The Star Gold Coast plus assigned TAFE days and the ability to work and earn on weekends and school holidays.
