The General Manager Risk – Properties and Risk Oversight reports directly to the Group Chief Risk Officer and offers an extraordinary opportunity to lead the risk management insight, oversight, guidance, and independent challenge for The Star’s Properties. This role will understand the risk environment, provide oversight and challenge, and be the primary ‘face of risk,’ working collaboratively with all levels of management to help ensure that a consistent and effective approach is applied to managing risk across the Properties.

A few of your responsibilities:

  • Working collaboratively with line 1 risk leadership and management, you will provide oversight and challenge to risk management practices across the business.
  • You will review strategies to ensure these consider and address risk.
  • You will review the appropriateness of Property responses to issues and incidents, also ensuring we effectively satisfy Internal Control Manual requirements.
  • You will monitor Properties’ risk governance, risk monitoring and reporting.

What we are looking for: 

  • You demonstrate superior knowledge of effective risk management and governance in a casino / gaming environment or similar highly regulated environment
  • You have strong analytical and critical thinking skills, supporting your ability to undertake effective root cause analysis and problem solving.
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with superior influencing skills across multiple complex stakeholder streams.  

About you: 

You are an seasoned risk management professional, with appropriate tertiary qualifications, and have shown your ability to work in small, fast paced teams.

Your role is pivotal in supporting the Group Chief Risk Officer and you will need to demonstrate the personal and people leadership to shape the ongoing success of the business.
