As a Senior Cyber Resilience Operations Advisor reporting to the Head of Cyber Operations, your responsibility entails leading the Cyber Operations team in its mission to minimize the impact and occurrence of cyber incidents, specifically those with the potential to disrupt The Star's operations. 

A few of your responsibilities 

  • Develop and maintain an intimate understanding of The Star’s operations, and how this is supported by its computing environment. 
  • Maintain working relationships with key stakeholders, including platform delivery managers within IT, and business system owners in the broader business, using your influence to drive improvements in The Star’s cyber resilience posture. 
  • Own, coordinate and continually refine The Star’s threat intelligence framework, including ongoing maintenance of The Star’s cyber threat modelling. Distil any material changes for communication with management, including providing recommendations. 
  • Oversee The Star’s vulnerability management program, including liaising with business owners and our partner organisations to resolve vulnerabilities in The Star’s environment 
  • Provide strategic advice to the Head of Cyber Operations and the Chief Information Security Officer regarding the investments and initiatives required to achieve The Star’s desired cyber resilience posture. 
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to your colleagues in the Cyber Operations team and beyond. 

What we are looking for 

  • Minimum five years full-time experience working in cyber operations or engineering role. 
  • Accredited tertiary qualifications in a Cyber Security or Information Technology degree or a related industry certification. 
  • Experience working with common cyber defensive tooling technologies (EDR, NDR, firewalls, web proxy, identity) 
  • Broad knowledge of IT concepts and technologies 
  • Understanding of modern enterprise cyber-defence strategy 
  • Demonstrable understanding of fundamental IT concepts. e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Windows domain technologies (Active Directory, Kerberos, Group Policy etc.), Linux system administration, OS architecture etc. 

With a strong foundation in cyber operations and adeptness in cultivating interdepartmental relationships, you excel in fast-paced environments. Your leadership style is characterised by leading through action. Moreover, you are comfortable navigating regulated and compliance-centric settings, ensuring operational integrity and adherence to industry standards.
