This role is a blend of strategy and delivery: designing talent strategies, leading employer branding initiatives, and driving recruitment innovation — while ensuring timely, high-quality hiring across our growing network. You will report to the General Manager People Operations and will work in close collaboration with our property-based leaders. You’ll oversee a small but high-performing team while remaining hands-on with recruitment for senior, critical, and hard-to-fill roles.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a people leader to inspire and manage our Talent Acquisition function, driving excellence across all recruitment touchpoints within our Sydney Star property.
A few of your responsibilities
- Lead the Talent Acquisition team to ensure high levels of team engagement providing learning, developing and stretch opportunities
- Partner with leaders to forecast workforce demand, build pipelines, and deliver proactive sourcing strategies.
- Work collaboratively to design and deliver Star Sydney’s talent acquisition strategy in alignment with workforce and our projected growth priorities.
- Develop and maintain strategic sourcing partners including learning institutions, RTOs, Hotel Schools and Universities to ensure a robust sourcing pipeline, participating in events and representing The Star and showcasing our Employment Brand.
- Champion an exceptional candidate experience across all recruitment touchpoints.
- Lead the execution of onboarding learning delivery and operations for Property, ensuring the effective facilitation of learning programs.
- Responsible for ensuring the team support conformance to all onboarding requirements to enable compliance with legislation including Casino Control Act (CCA) QLD and NSW, plus associated Internal Control Manual (ICM) / Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) requirements.
What we are looking for
- Proven leadership experience managing diverse teams across high-volume, compliance-heavy, and specialised recruitment areas
- Background in hospitality or retail, with exposure to government, or large corporate environments – bringing relatable and adaptable insights is desirable
- Skilled in building talent pipelines through partnerships with industry groups, educational institutions, and confidently represent our brand at events and expos.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior executives.
- Proven capability in employer branding, EVP development, and recruitment marketing.
- Confident in analysing recruitment data and translating insights into strategy
- A genuine people person who believes in our mission and values, and brings a positive, human-centered approach to talent acquisition.
About you
You’re a proven Talent Acquisition leader that has a deep understanding of sourcing channels and success in executing proactive recruitment campaigns is complemented by your ability to build and maintain strong talent pipelines. You are a hands-on, people-focused leader who is adaptable, resilient, and commercially aware.
You’ve previously led talent acquisition functions or worked in a similar HR environment, with hands-on experience in succession planning, retention strategies, and managing applicant tracking systems like PageUp. Your strategic mindset and operational expertise make you a trusted partner in driving recruitment excellence.
