As an Employee and Industrial Relations Manager reporting to the General Manager People and Culture, you will play a key role in delivering The Star Sydney’s People & Culture strategy. The position provides expert advice on complex employee relations matters, ensures compliance with industrial legislation and enterprise agreements, and proactively manages industrial risk.
The role builds leader capability, drives consistent and legally sound outcomes aligned with the People and Performance strategy, and leads engagement with unions and regulatory bodies.

A few of your responsibilities:
- Lead end‑to‑end management of high‑risk and complex ER matters, ensuring procedurally fair, defensible outcomes aligned to organisational risk appetite
- Provide governance and interpretation of enterprise agreements and industrial instruments across The Star Sydney
- Support enterprise bargaining and variations, including strategy input, bargaining preparation and post‑approval implementation
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation, industrial instruments and regulatory obligations
- Own the development and consistent application of ER/IR policies, procedures and decision‑making frameworks
- Act as a trusted advisor to the General Manager People & Culture and senior leaders on high‑risk, high‑impact employment and industrial matters
- Partner with ER Legal Counsel on industrial tribunal matters, including preparation of briefs, submissions and supporting materials
What we are looking for:
- Tertiary qualification in law, business, human resources or a related discipline, with a strong focus on employment and industrial relations
- Extensive experience (5+ years) in employee relations or HR management within a complex organisation, employer association or law firm providing workplace relations advice
- Strong working knowledge of relevant workplace legislation, regulations and enterprise agreements
- Proven experience providing practical HR advisory support to frontline leaders and employee
